PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Zafar Iqbal Jhagra was sworn in on Friday as the governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) at the Governor’s House in Peshawar.
Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel administered the oath. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was also present at the occasion.
Around 5,000 guests, including workers of PML-N, its students’ wing, and a large number of high-ranking politicians and military officers attended the oath-taking ceremony. On February 24, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had advised President Mamnoon Hussain to appoint Jhagra as governor K-P. Jhagra, who is secretary general of the ruling party, has joined the KP governor’s office after Sardar Mehtab Ahmad resigned from the post in the first week of February.
