The federal government on Friday made a major reshuffle in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) by transferring the Inland Revenue Service officers to other departments in the wake of a federal cabinet decision to separate tax policy from the revenue administration.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Member Policy Inland Revenue Dr Iqbal has been transferred to Ministry of Industries and Production as senior joint secretary. Similarly, Member Operations Inland Revenue Habibullah Khan has been transferred and posted as senior joint secretary at Science and Technology Division.
Khawaja Adnan Zahir, a BS-21 officer of IRS presently posted as Member Information Technology at FBR has been transferred and posted as Director General, Wafaqi Mohtasib, Lahore, by upgrading the post to BS-21 as personal to the officer.
Tasneem Rehman, a BS-22 officer of IRS posted as Member Administration at FBR has been transferred and posted as DG Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development by upgrading the post to BS-22 as personal to the officer under Section 10 of Civil Servants Act, 1973.
Nadeem Dar, a BS-22 officer of IRS working as Member Human Resource Management has been transferred and posted as Member Federal Land Commission by upgrading the post to BS-22.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal cabinet had on Thursday given approval to separation of tax policy from the revenue administration in line with the manifesto of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The cabinet had also formed a committee to work out legal and technical modalities in this regard. The initiative was taken to maintain strict fiscal discipline in the country for the purpose of curtailing fiscal deficit and ensuring that the expenditures and revenue remain within the budget estimates.
